I started @foodsandfloss in June 2020 as a space to leisurely share my baking experiments. Somehow, I ended up here—baking bespoke cakes (for birthdays, weddings, dinner parties, no occasion sweets), developing recipes, and creating freelance digital media content—but hey, I’m happy to be here! Full-time, I’m a dental student and work part-time in a research lab on non-food experiments. Although I really enjoy the process of working with a client to create a custom layered confection, blanketed in buttercream, and crowned with edible flowers, I… just want to be a dentist and occasionally bake cakes (silly alliteration username origins). I know that there’s an undeniable contradiction between dessert and the dentist, but I realize that my future patients will likely eat cake and, on top of that, forget to floss. So… I’m thinking it will all come full circle one day. And I just love creating art and food. It brings me a lot of joy in my free time.
